First Blog of 2011!
and I am ashamed!
I have not kept this up to date since... December 18th I think? Well anyway I'm going to keep posting blogs about my band and me. This year I think I'll go a tad personal with my thoughts and views on things. Time to make this blog a bit more interesting.

Metal Thursday CIX
Last night Naegleria played at Ralph's Diner for Metal Thursday CIX, but Before I get into the show I'll just discuss everything that happened. So at the band room we're packing everything up and my mom and step-dad picked me up with my cab and everything. So we make it Ralph's and I get settled in, talked to the sound guy who was really cool. Matt was the next to come in, then I get a text. Rayne's car broke down near sweaty betty's and it just wouldn't start. So my step-dad and Matt's friend Adam, get all the guitar amps to Ralph's and then we set up.
The sound was great (I actually heard my bass for once!) and we're playing really well. There a couple mic difficulties but those were fixed and I think we played a kickass show. The crowd was loud and everyone seemed to enjoy us.
The only bad news is that we can't play tomorrow's show with Goreality cause of Rayne's car and Matt broke his kickdrum at Ralph's, haha. But no biggie, We have 3 shows for december, especially one at the palladium! so stay tuned, more goofy Naegleria news later on.

Goreality and Naegleria- November 20th
Today, Massachusetts Brutal Death Metal band Goreality, asked us to play at Marshall's Pub in New Bedford (lol). Goreality is not only a great band, they are also very well known around here, and a week and a half ago I think, they played with Nile at Club Hell! (our guitarist Tom has also played with Nile with one of his old bands). Point is I'm siked, the band is sikedm and we cannot wait to play this killer show.

The New Bedford Show
Alright... what a day, haha.
So, Naegleria was offered this show in New Bedford at a VFW with 15 other bands. We were pumped. Everything was going great, Rayne and I leave for new bedford yesterday around 8:30am, made a pit stop to wake Matt's ass up so he could get his drums, and then we were off. We ended up in Worcester on accident, then turned back, drove a bit more, got lost in providence for about 15 minutes (not even maybe. Then we make it to the VFW.
We walk to the building, and we meet the bassist for Betrayed by Prophecy, and there were troubles with the venue. Since it was changed back to 21+ that morning (It was 18+ on the flyer), I probably couldn't play. So we wait there and everyone gets there and we all chill for a bit. The show was supposed to start at 12 noon, and it was 2pm at the time, but the guys worked out some sort of thing with the bartenders so that I could play with the band, and get the fuck out of there. We unload everything, and we start playing at about 4pm. We played out whole set but something happened that I didn't notice when we were playing the last song. Toms guitar stopped, Matt stopped drumming, and Joel's mic got turned off (Rayne and I were still playing). Some 80 year old fuck unplugged toms guitar, forced matt to stop, and turned the mixer off. He was an asshole, and he called Joel and asshole cause he was laughing, hahaha. But the show was ruined cause of a couple veteran assholes who couldn't handle heavy music.
So we packed everything up, and the guys from Betrayed felt so bad, so they bought a couple 18 packs of PBR, and invited us to the drummers house to see Obsidian Tongue and his band, Betrayed by Prophecy, in his basement. We totally took that offer up cause you know... free beer! So we drive there and everyone already started drinking. The first band that played in his basement, Obsidian Tongue, was fucking fantastic. Probably the best black metal band from around here, we loved it. Betrayed by Prophecy was a really great band too. Rayne was sloppy as fuck, hahaha. He was pushing everyone, pushed tom into someone amp and knocked it over, knocked matt over, then Joel fell, and then their PA speaker (that I caught luckily). The stand was kinda bent, but it was all good.
So after awhile we leave. it was about 8pm, hahaha, and everyone was feeling pretty drunk. I was driving with Matt with Tom and Sean in the back. Joel was with Rayne. So we're driving along, just being goofballs and we stop at a mcdonalds in uxbridge to piss and Matt runs in first. Tom and I walk in after him and we just see Matt pissing in the sink, We definitely LOL'd. And we were being loud and obnoxious the whole time there, and then we leave the place. We are all starving, so Matt and I each got one sandwich, he called the chick working a skank, then we took off. Taking the back rodes through douglas we finally made it to Burger King (Kurger Bing) in Webster, and got loads of food.
After all of that, we make it to the band room, we say our goodbye's and We all go home. Next week... Ralph's Diner on November 18th, a Thursday... A METAL THURSDAY!!!

Hello and Welcome!
This is The Life of a Metal Head...
My name is Jake and I'm a long haired, metal loving nerd that plays bass in the death metal band Naegleria. I made this goofy blog so I can blog about bands I like, discuss the latest metal cd's/dvd's, write about my band, and more!
